Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult year, achieving just one win at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now training with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents his initial title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court since March of the previous year.

Victory also means Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his last six championship matches, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

His defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to doubt if his ability to perform at the top level was concluded.

Yet the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play positively, supported by an enhanced service.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

The opponent saved 4 early break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
