The head of state conducted a visit to address defense personnel in the Pokrovsk area on the start of the week. Zelenskyy announced that he consulted soldiers at the military base of the first unit of the National Guard of Ukraine Azov, which is conducting a defensive operation in the Dobropillya sector, a location approximately 20km from the focal point.

Critical Situation in Pokrovsk

Updated analysis from a national effort indicated that Russian forces had made gains into the city and surrounding areas, though significant areas was not fully held by both forces. The status is precarious, with reports indicating that invading units were fortifying positions and strengthening posts in certain areas.

Invading troops are pushing forward in the Pokrovsk front and seem to be functioning with increasing comfort within the city proper.

Research institutes observed that national troops had recaptured substantial territory of a Russian penetration in the Dobropillya area, on the eastern edge of the Pokrovsk campaign.

National Drone Strikes Within Russian Territory

Kyiv's aerial vehicles struck a factory approximately a considerable distance inside Russian territory at the location. Local officials reported an explosion at the industrial complex that caused its water treatment facility to be compromised, adding that the cause of the explosion was undetermined. The Ukrainian military general staff stated there was significant destruction to the plant.

Ukraine's military said it struck a Lukoil oil refinery at Kstovo in the Russian region in central Russia. The extent of the damage was under evaluation. The Russian regional governor confirmed an attack by numerous aerial vehicles near the refinery.

Moscow's Military Legal Adjustments

National guard personnel will now have to secure petroleum plants against Ukrainian drone strikes after the president signed a law on the start of the week extending their entanglement in the military campaign. The Russian ruler also signed a law authorizing recruitment continuously whereas previously it was possible only during limited periods in autumn and spring. The federation restricts draftees from being deployed to combat, but after their military service they become part of the backup units, placing them in danger of being sent to war.

Heavy military spending have also started to pressure the national finances, with authorities hiking rates to address growing shortfalls.

Ukrainian Leader's Requests for International Support

The Ukrainian president appealed to Washington to remain open to providing Ukraine with far-reaching military equipment. Addressing a European Union summit from the eastern front, the Ukrainian president also demanded more western sanctions on the federation – including on fuel and power segments – and said he sought accession to the union before 2030.
